Where did I get my information?

Curaçao
I made digital copies of all birth and death registers of the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel archives. In addition to that, I have put all of the documentation of marriages recorded by the the Emmanuels in their monumental volumes entitled History of the Jews of the Netherlands Antilles in my data base, as well as selected entries from the death catalogue taken from Precious Stones of the Jews of the Netherlands Antilles by Isaac S. Emmanuel. I visited the Berg Altena Jewish Cemetery and  photographed most of the tombstonesand stored the photographs digitally.

At the Mongui Maduro Foundation, I digitized available family tree registers, as well as countless birth, wedding and anniversary announcements.

At the archives of S.E.L.Maduro & Sons I digitized key documents that offer insight into the business activities of Caribbean Sephardim.

Dominican Republic

I visited with descendants of the Salas, Curiel, and de Marchena families and received and digitized all the documentation from their personal archives. During this trip I also visited and digitized information of all related families at the National Archives in Santo Domingo as well as the cemeteries.

Colombia
I met with the Salas, Alvares Correa and Cortissoz families in Barranquilla and spent time at the National Archives of that city.  Once again, I digitized all the  information photographed at these sites as well as photographs of all the tombstones at the Jewish cemeteries.

Coro

I received digitized information from a research trip taken to Coro by Diane M. Henriquez and Josette Capriles Goldish.

St.Thomas
I received digitized information from a trip that Josette Capriles Goldish made to the St. Thomas Library, the Beracha V'Shalom Synagogue and Archives, and the Jewish cemetery.

Panama

Digitized Information from the Kol Shearith archives and the Jewish cemeteries in Panama.

Miami

Miami has been the meeting and reunion point for countless cousins who visit and with whom I enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee. Of course I bring along my iPad and camera.

Cuba

Spent time with historian Maritza Corrales C. who offered much insight to Jewish life in Havana. I also visited the Patronato library and met with the presidents of 2 Jewish communities. I spent hours in the archives of Cementerio de Colon in  Havana, looking for information about Sephardic relatives and acquaintances. I photographed the homes of Caribbean Sephardim who lived in Havana  to enhance my understanding of the lives they led before the revolution.

In addition, my other sources include countless books on Sephardic families of the new world.
